8 practical ways to cut your mess costs
You can lower a mess's monthly spend without touching the quality of the food. These are the habits that actually move the number.
ReadMess • Hostel • Shared flat
Just log the bazar costs, the meals and each member's deposit. Mess Manager calculates the meal rate, everyone's share and who owes what — automatically. No paper, no calculator, no month-end panic.
Free to start • Backed up online every day
A page goes missing, a sum comes out wrong, and then someone says “I didn't eat that many meals”.
One missed entry throws off the whole month's meal rate — and finding where it went wrong takes hours.
Want to know your balance? Ask the manager and wait. Nobody can check for themselves.
Change your phone or lose the notebook and every previous month is gone for good.
One shared ledger, fully online. The manager enters the day's numbers and everyone else sees the updated accounts from their own phone, any time.

A built-in group chat for your mess — shopping lists, notices and everything else in one place.
Download any month's full accounts as a PDF. Keep your own backup or share it with the group.

Add or remove members, and hand over the manager role at any time with the current manager's consent.
Got a free seat? Post a to-let on the feed, find new members, or buy and sell second-hand items.
How it works
You can have the whole mess running on day one.
Sign up with an email and password, or log straight in with Google.
From the dashboard, create a mess with its name and currency.
Use “Add Member” to bring everyone in. Each person logs in with their own email.
Add bazar costs, meals and deposits as they happen. The month-end summary builds itself.
Cooking together and paying together — with accounts everyone can trust.
More members, more entries, all on a single dashboard.
Split rent, bills and groceries with friends without the spreadsheet.
